Przeniczny Dazzles, Tosses Shutout

Box Score CHUGIAK – Xavier’s Dan Przeniczny was the center piece to the Chinooks 6-0 victory over the Anchorage Glacier Pilots at Loretta French Field on Sunday night.

Przeniczny hurled a four-hit shutout and did not allow a single baserunner of the Pilots to advance past second base.  He struck out seven batters and walked three on his way to his second winning decision of the summer.  It turns out to be the second team shutout for the Chinooks, but the first complete game thrown by the entire pitching staff.

The Glacier Pilots had a slew of substitutions in their final game of the season.  Fifteen different hitters took a swing against Przeniczny.  They were led offensively by Anchorage native Adam Manzer with two of his teams four hits.

The Chinooks offense would get all it would need in the first inning.  Nick Covello returned the lineup for the first time since early July for the Fish and delivered the first of his two hits after a walk by Jon Popadics.  Steve Karkenny came through with a two-out hit to drive home the first two runs of the game as both Popadics and Collevo scored.

Loretta French Field’s scoreboard read 2-0 for most of the contest.  Four runs came around in the eighth inning highlighted by Mark Lindsay’s bases-clearing double to open up a six run lead.  Przeniczny sat down the Pilots in order in the ninth inning to complete the shutout.

The Chinooks move to 13-25 with the win, and they will conclude their season on Monday night at Loretta French Field at 6 pm AKDT against the Peninsula Oilers.
