The Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks rode a pair of explosive offensive performances to a doubleheader sweep of the Anchorage Glacier Pilots on Saturday, highlighted by home runs from Austin Young and Ty Beck.

The Chinooks opened the day with a 3-0 victory in the first game, using dominant pitching and an early blast from Young to set the tone. Reese Vassar doubled to begin the bottom of the first before Young launched a two-run homer to give the Chinooks an immediate lead. Young later added a sacrifice fly in the third to finish with all three Chinooks RBIs as the offense did just enough to back a stellar pitching performance.

On the mound, Oliver Adams was outstanding, tossing six scoreless innings while allowing just three hits and striking out six. Qade Carrington closed out the seventh to complete the shutout as the Chinooks held the Pilots to four hits.

The bats came alive in an even bigger way during the nightcap, as the Chinooks pounded out 12 hits in a 13-3 run-rule victory. Austin Young stayed hot, going 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored, while Ty Beck delivered one of the biggest offensive performances of the season. Beck crushed two home runs—including a first-inning grand slam—and finished with seven RBIs.

After Kai Butler's RBI double put the Chinooks on the board in the first inning, Beck followed up with taking the first pitch he's seen since coming back from a hand injury over the right field fence for a towering grand slam to cap a five-run opening frame. Young added a solo homer in the second and an RBI single in the third before Beck struck again in the fifth with a three-run run rule walk off blast to complete the doubleheader sweep.

Kai Butler finished 3-for-3 with three RBIs, while Reese Vassar scored three times and Mason Trotter dominated on the mound, striking out nine over four scoreless innings before Takeshi Malady finished off the win.

The doubleheader sweep was great, but the story of the day belonged to the long ball. Austin Young homered in both games, while Ty Beck's two-homer, seven-RBI performance powered Chugiak-Eagle River to a fun finish as the Chinooks outscored the Pilots 16-3 across the two victories.
