The Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks used a back to back inning rally over the sixth and seventh innings to pull away from the Anchorage Bucs and earn a 13-7 win.
Trailing 5-3 entering the bottom of the sixth, the Chinooks' offense came alive. Tate Greene started the rally with an RBI single before Austin Young tied the game with a run-scoring base hit. Kirby Jenkins then delivered the biggest swing of the inning, ripping a two-run triple to the gap to give Chugiak a 7-5 lead.
The Chinooks added four more runs in the seventh to create separation. Kai Butler drove in two with a single, Carter Reid followed with an RBI double, and Young collected his third RBI of the night with another base hit.
Young paced the offense by going 2-for-6 with three RBIs, while Reid finished 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Jenkins reached base three times, tripled, stole three bases and drove in two runs. Butler added two hits and two RBIs, and Greene chipped in with two hits and an RBI.
On the mound, Qade Carrington earned the win with three strong innings of relief, allowing just one hit and one unearned run while striking out three. Starter Oliver Adams worked five innings and struck out five before the bullpen closed out the victory.
The Chinooks totaled 12 hits, drew 11 walks and swiped eight bases in an aggressive all-around performance to secure the 13-7 win over the Bucs. They will be in Palmer to face the Miners on Wednesday.
