Chinooks fall in sudden death at Kenai
The Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks lost to the Peninsula Oilers in their third sudden-death game of the summer. In the sudden death format, after one complete extra inning, the home team picks whether they want to be on offense or defense. The offense puts a runner at 1st base wth no outs. If the offense scores, they win, if the defense records three outs without a run scoring, the defensive team wins. In their first two sudden death games, the fish won. On this night, the Nooks woud fall. In the final sudden death inning, with Oliver Degenhardt placed at 1st base, he was balked to 2nd base with no outs. David Broughton struck out swinging for the first out, RJ Rickabaugh popped out to 2B and Sam Kwapnioski flied out to left field. The Chinooks will play a five game series on the Peninsula against the Oilers this week. Next game is Friday night at 6 pm at Coral Seymour Field.
