Miners comeback drops Nooks at Lee Jordan Field
The Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks looked to snap a 4 game losing streak on Thursday in returning to the friendly confines of Lee Jordan Field. The Mat-su Miners staged a comeback that would spoil the Nooks return home, defeated the Fish 4-3. After giving up a run in the top of the third inning, the home team would take the lead by plating 3 runs of their own in the bottom of the third. Frankie Gulko, the Chinooks starting pitcher had another good start in going 5 innings, giving up just 2 runs on just 5 hits and striking out 8 Mat-su hitters. But the Miners persisted and posted single runs in the 7th and the winning run in the top of the 9th inning to secure the win. Four Mat-su pitchers were able to scatter CER hits and held on for the 1 run victory. Next up for the Chinooks is a double header in Palmer at 4 pm against the same Miner club.
